This is the most copied book by far in this survey. Metzger is easy to read and the book is packed with small and interesting details. Highly recommended.

This book has all the Apostolic Fathers except Epistle of Barnabas, Shepherd of Hermas, and Fragments of Papias. However, it includes First Apology by Justin Martyr, A Plea Regarding Christians by Athenagoras, and books 1,3,5 of Adversus Haereses by Irenaeus.

Probably the most widely read book in these references. A best-seller?

This revised edition is a translation of the fifth German edition, and the largest collection of the latest in scholarly research. It includes English translations of most apocryphal writings. Highly recommended. The Apostolic Fathers are not included.
